Made-to-Measure Glass Objects in Luxembourg — UV Bonding, Cloches, Vitrophy Trophies
Glass does more than close an opening: it can become an object, a piece of furniture, a display unit or an award.

From flat glass to finished object, all in the workshop
Vitralux assembles glass and acrylic in three dimensions by UV bonding and makes any kind of glass object to measure in its Howald workshop: cloches and display units for bakeries, tables and tops, precision cutting and edge polishing.
Its Vitrophy department, which you can also reach at www.vitrophy.lu, specialises in trophies, medals and engraved objects in glass and acrylic.
UV bonding: joining glass with absolute precision and no visible trace
Unlike silicone or conventional adhesives, which leave a visible, tinted joint, UV adhesive is completely clear: once cured under UV light it becomes invisible and forms a bond as strong as the glass itself.
Completely clear
No visible joint, no squeeze-out, no trace of adhesive once cured.
Maximum strength
A bond as strong as the glass itself in normal use.
Precise assembly
Perfectly square 90° corners, parts cut to the millimetre.
Glass & acrylic
Suits glass, acrylic and assemblies that mix the two materials.
Made-to-measure glass cloches and display units
The glass cloche is at the heart of how products are shown in bakeries, patisseries, jewellers and high-end retail. Every part is cut to the exact size, the edges are polished and the whole thing is assembled in our Luxembourg workshop — from small shelf cloches to large counter displays.
| Bakery cloches | Clear glass cloches assembled by UV bonding: they protect pastries and cakes while showing them in full. Any size to measure, base in glass or timber as you prefer. |
|---|---|
| Counter displays | Cubes, boxes and display cases for jewellers, goldsmiths and boutiques: every piece is shown at its best, with nothing to distract the eye. |
| Exhibition cases | Made-to-measure glazed cases for museums, galleries and collections: objects protected and visible from every angle. |
| Displays for events | Temporary or permanent displays for exhibitions, showrooms and product launches. |
| Glass plinths and tops | UV-bonded tops and plinths that raise objects or products and show them off. |
Clear, low-iron, frosted or mirrored glass
Cloches and displays are available in clear glass, low-iron glass (with no green cast), frosted glass or mirror, depending on the effect you want. Acrylic is also an option for lightweight assemblies or more complex shapes.
Made-to-measure glass tables, tops and furniture
Beyond display units, UV bonding makes whole pieces of glass furniture possible: coffee tables, console tables, desktops, floating shelves. Every piece is made entirely to measure in the Vitralux workshop in Howald.
| Coffee and console tables | A glass top on glass legs, UV-bonded for a minimalist, elegant piece. Any size, any thickness. |
|---|---|
| Desktops | A made-to-measure glass work surface: transparent, easy to clean, elegant. Ideal for executive offices. |
| Glass shelves | Shelves in toughened or laminated glass for the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room and the office. |
| Made-to-measure glass furniture | Any glass furniture project: sideboards, display cabinets, dining tables with a glass top. Every piece is designed individually. |
For wall shelves and standard cutting, see also our made-to-measure glass shelves and our cat flaps and air conditioning cut-outs.
Made-to-measure glass cutting and edge polishing
Beyond assembly, the Vitralux workshop carries out every processing operation on glass: cutting, edge polishing, drilling, bevelling and reworking bottles.
| Cutting to measure | Any shape: rectangular, circular, oval, polygonal. On flat glass of any thickness. |
|---|---|
| Edge polishing | Flat polished edge, rounded (bullnose), arrised or bevelled. Finished by hand or by machine depending on the length. |
| Drilling | Precise cylindrical holes from 5 to 60 mm in diameter, depending on the application. |
| Bottle cutting | Bottles turned into glasses, vases or decorative objects. Precision cutting and a polished edge. |
| Laser engraving on acrylic | Acrylic can be worked with a laser for engraving, precision cutting and personalised objects. |
| Repair and recutting | Recutting an existing pane that no longer fits the new sizes, or whose corner has been damaged. |

Frequently asked questions about glass objects
Yes, in normal use. Cured UV adhesive resists ambient humidity and ordinary indoor temperatures. It is not designed for direct contact with running water or for extreme temperatures. For use in wet areas (bathroom, kitchen), Vitralux sets out the conditions of use in the quotation.
Yes. Vitralux makes cloches and displays in special shapes: hexagonal, L-shaped, with arrised edges or particular cut-outs. Each piece is made to measure from a drawing or a description. We check that it can be built when we prepare the quotation.
Not quite. Acrylic (PMMA) is lighter and easier to cut than glass; it can be bent with heat and worked with a laser for very high precision engraving and cutting. On the other hand it scratches more easily than glass and does not suit applications that demand high scratch or UV resistance (it can yellow). Vitralux will recommend whichever material suits the use.
The full range is on www.vitrophy.lu, the dedicated site for the Vitralux trophy department. There you will find every model, the personalisation options and the chance to request a quotation online.
