Heated Glass & Anti-Condensation in Luxembourg — A Built-In Electric Heating Layer

A transparent electric heating element built into the glazing: condensation gone, automatic de-icing and a useful boost of radiant heat.

How it works

An invisible conductive layer inside the glazing

Heated glass carries a transparent electric heating element inside the glazing itself. It clears condensation and misting, de-ices with no separate system, and can provide a useful boost of radiant heat.

Heated glass uses a transparent conductive coating (or invisible conductive wires) laid on the glass and wired to a low-voltage supply. When the current flows, the element generates heat by the Joule effect. Output is regulated by a thermostat or a control system, and consumption is comparable to that of an electric radiator of the same area.

Reference project — Pfaffenthal panoramic lift, Luxembourg City

Vitralux replaced a large-format glass floor panel in the Pfaffenthal panoramic lift. The project shows how surely Vitralux handles demanding technical glazing in a controlled environment. See our projects.

Applications

Where are heated and anti-condensation glass worth having?

ApplicationDetail
Anti-condensation mirrorsThe mirror stays clear after a shower: no condensation. A premium answer for bathrooms and hotels. 12 V or 230 V supply depending on the model.
Panoramic liftsThe glazing stays clear even in winter conditions. No condensation in an enclosed space.
Greenhouses and conservatoriesRadiant heat coming straight from the glazing. An alternative to conventional heating, or a complement to it.
External glazing (de-icing)Frost and ice cleared automatically from exposed glazing: canopies, windows, glass roofs.
Refrigerated display cabinetsA clear view of what is on show in chilled cabinets (bakeries, patisseries, delicatessens).
Secure control roomsAnti-condensation glazing for control spaces where visibility has to be guaranteed at all times (security, surveillance).

Your questions about heated glass

Heated glass uses a transparent conductive coating (or invisible conductive wires) laid on the glass and wired to a low-voltage supply. When the current flows, the element generates heat by the Joule effect. Output is regulated by a thermostat or a control system.

Consumption is comparable to that of an electric radiator of the same area. Heat output, supply voltage and control system are all sized individually for each project.
