Made-to-Measure Acrylic Mirrors — Light, Shatterproof, Laser-Cut

Acrylic does what glass cannot always do: it is light, it does not shatter, and it puts no limit at all on shape. Perfect circles, cut-out letters, complex silhouettes — our laser cutter produces any shape to within a millimetre.

lighter than glass — and all but unbreakable
Where the shape becomes impossible in glass, acrylic takes over

Complete freedom of shape

Acrylic — or PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) — is a mirror material that matches glass for quality of reflection but brings advantages glass cannot equal: it is ten times lighter, all but unbreakable in everyday use and, above all, it can be laser-cut with absolute precision, however complex the shape you ask for.

Vitralux makes made-to-measure acrylic mirrors in Luxembourg in every shape imaginable: perfect circles, ovals, hexagons, stars, leaves, cut-out letters, company logos, figurative silhouettes and complex geometric patterns. Our laser cutter produces clean edges, with no chipping and no irregularities.

The acrylic mirror suits decorative wall work particularly well, along with signage for hotels and shops, children's rooms and creative projects where the safety of an unbreakable material comes first. The mirror finish is silver or gold depending on the reference, and the edges can be polished or left raw, depending on the effect you are after.

The main applications

What the acrylic mirror does that glass cannot

01

Free-form wall decoration

Several acrylic mirror pieces in different shapes (circles of varying sizes, hexagons, leaves) assembled into a wall gallery. The effect is contemporary, light and easy to rearrange. Glass simply does not allow a composition like that.

02

Cut-out letters and logos

Acrylic mirror letters for hotel, boutique or restaurant signage. Company logos laser-cut with absolute precision. A silver or gold mirror finish, to match the brand.

03

Children's rooms

Acrylic mirror is the obvious choice for rooms children use: it does not break into dangerous shards. Playful shapes are possible too (animals, stars, moons).

04

Art projects and exhibitions

Acrylic can be combined with other materials, laid over other surfaces, lit by LEDs along its edges or hung on cables. Its low weight makes every creative hanging easier.

05

Mirrors for staircases and circulation

Anywhere a glass mirror would be a risk on impact: narrow corridors, stairwells, busy entrance halls. The low weight and toughness of acrylic make it the preferred answer here.

06

Furniture cladding

Drawer fronts, cabinet door panels, display case backs — acrylic mirror is cut to the exact size and then bonded or screwed on, with no risk of breakage.

Cutting accurate to a tenth of a millimetre
Laser cutting

Millimetre accuracy, in any shape

The laser cutter in the Vitralux workshop cuts acrylic mirror to an accuracy of around a tenth of a millimetre. The beam cuts cleanly, with no chipping, no mechanical stress in the material and crisp edges that generally need no further work at all.

The technology produces shapes that would be flatly impossible with a saw or any mechanical cutter: complex curves, fine serrations, letters made of strokes a few millimetres wide, or shapes based on a drawing supplied by you or your architect. Just send us the vector file (in DXF, SVG or AI format) and our machine cuts exactly what you have drawn.

  • Accuracy: to a tenth of a millimetre.
  • File formats accepted: DXF, SVG, AI (Adobe Illustrator).
  • Shapes possible: circle, oval, hexagon, letters, logos, silhouettes, geometric patterns.
  • Edges: crisp, with no chipping — they can be left raw (a matt look) or polished (a clear look).

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the acrylic mirror

For decorative work the result is very close. Acrylic mirror can distort the reflection slightly over large areas, because it flexes — particularly if it has not been bonded across its whole surface. For functional use (seeing yourself properly) glass remains the benchmark. For decorative work, cut shapes and wall compositions, acrylic is often the better choice for its weight and its safety.

Yes, and that is exactly what laser cutting is for. Just send us your vector file (in DXF, SVG or AI format) and we cut it exactly to your specification. If you do not have a vector file, our designers can create one from your logo or your drawing for a small extra charge.

Good-quality acrylic (extruded or cast PMMA) with a UV-stable treatment does not yellow in normal indoor use. Long periods of direct sunlight can, however, affect the reflective coating on some references. Vitralux selects quality references: just tell us where the piece is going when you place the order.

There are several options, depending on the weight and the shape: strong double-sided tape for light, flat pieces; through-bolts with spacers for a floating effect; stainless steel cables for wall compositions; or a special PMMA adhesive for large areas. Our technicians recommend the right fixing for your project when they quote.

Acrylic resists moisture, unlike silvered glass, which can corrode if the back is not protected. It is therefore fine in a well-ventilated bathroom. Do avoid direct splashes of hot water, though, which can distort the material over time. For heavy functional use in a bathroom, glass remains the better answer.
