Glass shelves are among the most ordered products at Vitralux: simple, quick, made to measure to the millimetre and delivered with polished edges. Clear, satin, lacquered or mirrored — every shelf is made in our Luxembourg workshop in Howald, and you can order it by email or telephone without a site visit.
Made-to-measure glass shelves — any size, any finish
Vitralux made-to-measure toughened glass shelves: you give us the dimensions and the shape, we cut the glass, round the corners or polish the edges to your instructions, and deliver a perfectly finished piece ready to fit. For most simple shelves, the dimensions can be sent by email to info@vitralux.lu or given over the telephone on (+352) 49 42 52 1. Vitralux will advise you on the right thickness for the size and the use.
A mirrored shelf for the hallway, a coloured lacquered shelf for the living room? Every finish available on our made-to-measure mirrors and our lacquered glass wall cladding is also available as a shelf.

Frequently asked questions about glass shelves
Yes, for most simple shelves (rectangular, with straight or rounded edges). All we need are the exact dimensions by email or telephone: length, width, the thickness you want, the type of glass and the edge finish. Vitralux makes the piece and delivers it, or you collect it from our Howald showroom. For special shapes or complex cut-outs, a site visit or a survey may be necessary.
For a standard bathroom shelf (recess, over a bath, wall shelf) up to 80 cm long, 6 mm is generally enough. For lengths of 80 to 120 cm, or for shelves that have to carry some weight, we recommend 8 mm. Above 120 cm, 10 mm is the minimum. Vitralux advises you on the right thickness when you order.
No. Toughened glass cannot be cut once it has been toughened: it would shatter into thousands of small pieces. Every cut, notch, hole and edge is worked on the raw glass before toughening. That is why the dimensions and the cut-outs have to be confirmed precisely before manufacture.
Yes. Cylindrical holes can be drilled before toughening: for wall fixings (glass brackets), for tap holes (basin shelves), or for exposed bolts and screws. The diameter and the exact position of the holes must be specified when you order.
