Hygiene, colour and durability

Glass on the wall: the material that does not age

Glass is the ideal material for cladding walls wherever hygiene, durability and looks come first. Paint flakes, tile grout gets grubby and timber warps — lacquered glass and mirror, by contrast, are perfectly smooth, waterproof, impact-resistant and wiped clean in seconds. The surface does not age.

Vitralux makes five kinds of glass wall cladding to measure in Luxembourg: the kitchen splashback (see credence.lu for the colours), the wall mirror for gyms and fitness studios, the mirror with a chrome frame running right around it, lacquered glass made to measure for interiors and offices, and furniture cladding in lacquered glass or mirror. Every piece is made in our Luxembourg workshop, cut to the exact size and fitted by our own technicians.

The mirror with a chrome frame all the way round — elegance, framed

The wall mirror set in a chrome frame is a timeless classic of interior design. The polished chrome profile runs around all four sides of the mirror: it protects the edges of the glass, underlines the geometry of the room and adds a point of shine that catches the light. In a hallway, above a console table, in a living room or a bathroom, it gives the wall structure while making the space feel larger.

Vitralux makes every framed mirror to measure in its Howald workshop: the mirror cut to the millimetre, the chrome frame assembled to the exact size, wall fitting carried out by our technicians. The frame also comes in matt black or gold to suit your interior — and the mirror can be backed with a safety film, like our safety mirrors.

  • Polished chrome frame all the way round — edge protection and a premium finish.
  • Made to measure to the millimetre: any size, portrait or landscape.
  • 4 or 6 mm mirror, with a laminated safety option for public spaces.
  • Frame variants: chrome, matt black or gold.
  • Supplied and wall-fitted by the Vitralux teams, anywhere in Luxembourg.
The advantages of glass on the wall

Why choose glass for your walls?

1

Complete hygiene

A non-porous surface that gives bacteria nothing to cling to. A damp cloth is all it takes to clean. The ideal answer for professional kitchens and medical spaces.

2

Endless colours

Lacquered glass comes in every RAL and NCS colour. Unlike paint, the colour is permanent: it does not fade, yellow or flake.

3

A perfectly smooth surface

No joints, no irregularities: a single sheet of glass from one edge to the other. No other material gives you that clarity.

4

Unlimited service life

In normal use, glass does not age. Unlike paint (10 years), PVC (15 years) or tiling (grout that has to be redone), lacquered glass keeps its original look indefinitely.

5

A reflective surface that opens up the room

A wall mirror visually doubles the area of a space. The sense of depth is immediate, and it works particularly well in small rooms.

6

Made to measure to the millimetre

Each panel is cut to the exact dimensions of the surface to be clad: no cutting on site, no unsightly joint, a clean result throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about glass wall cladding

Yes, provided the wall is sound, clean and perfectly flat. A wall with significant surface irregularities (more than 2 to 3 mm) has to be filled and smoothed before the glass goes on. Fitting over existing tiles is possible if the tiles are firmly bonded. Vitralux assesses the substrate during the survey visit.

Lacquered glass stands up to the ambient heat of a normal kitchen. It should not be fitted right beside a hob without protection: we recommend a minimum gap of 15 to 20 cm between the splashback and the hob. For kitchens with an open flame or a powerful induction hob close by, toughened glass is recommended for its greater thermal resistance.

Yes. Lacquered glass is available in every RAL and NCS colour. Where an exact match with kitchen units or existing elements matters, Vitralux can colour-match from a sample or an exact reference. The credence.lu reference lists the most requested colours.

In most kitchens, a single pane covers the whole length of the splashback. For very wide runs, we fit several butt-jointed panels with a discreet silicone joint matched to the colour. The exact layout is settled during the survey visit.
