When every centimetre counts, the sliding door wins
The shower enclosure with a sliding door is the answer chosen whenever the space available will not allow a conventional door to open. A swing door needs 70 to 90 centimetres of clearance in front of the opening. A sliding door uses only the space to one side: it runs parallel to the fixed glass and never projects into the room or into the shower.
Vitralux makes made-to-measure sliding shower enclosures across Luxembourg for every shape of space: a rectangular or square shower, a recess between two walls, or a shower against a single wall with a return. The sliding section can cover the whole width of the opening or only part of it, with a fixed panel closing the rest.

Why choose a sliding enclosure?
Nothing projects
The door slides sideways and does not swing out into the bathroom. Ideal in small rooms where every centimetre counts.
Narrow bathroom
In a bathroom less than 2 metres wide, a swing door is often unusable. The sliding door solves the problem.
Easy access
Opening and closing needs no stepping back: you simply slide the door aside. It also suits people with limited mobility (accessible sliding version).
Fixed panel + sliding leaf
The fixed panel and the sliding section can be made in the same glass, with the same profiles and the same finish: the whole thing reads as one piece.
Simple upkeep
The top track and the bottom guide are easy to get at for cleaning. The quality systems Vitralux offers keep limescale deposits in the tracks to a minimum.
Two leaves are possible
On wide openings, two panels sliding in opposite directions (the byparting arrangement) open the access at the centre without reducing the area of the fixed panel.

Your questions about the sliding shower enclosure
A well-designed sliding door with good seals is very watertight in normal use. It is slightly less so than a hinged swing door when water is thrown directly and hard against the door. For high-pressure showers or a large overhead rainfall head, a hinged enclosure may be the better call. Our advisers will point you the right way for your installation.
The tracks in the quality systems Vitralux offers use open profiles that make cleaning easier. Regular upkeep with a limescale remover and a soft brush is enough to keep the track clean and the door running freely. We recommend a limescale treatment on the tracks as well, especially in hard water areas.
Yes. The sliding enclosure can be fitted on a tray with an upstand (an acrylic or resin tray) or straight onto a tiled floor. Vitralux adapts the bottom guide to suit the tray. On a step-free shower the bottom guide is set into a channel in the tiling.
Yes. The sliding door is often the preferred answer for wheelchair-accessible showers, because it takes little effort to push or pull and does not project into the manoeuvring space.
